Third party authorization

UBC has switched to a new system called Workday for courses starting in September 2024. Learn how to update or add your Third Party Authorization in Workday.

Summer 2024 session students will need to update their Third Party Authorization in both SSC and Workday.

Third Party Authorization is in place to protect your personal information from being released to unauthorized individuals under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

You must provide your third party with your student number and the authorization code you assigned to them. UBC Okanagan will require both before releasing any protected information.

Follow the steps on how to add Third Party to your account:

Step one

Log on to the Student Service Centre (SSC) using your Campus-Wide Login (CWL).

Step two

Select Personal Info > Third Party Authorization

Step three

Click Add a New Contact, enter the third party contact information and indicate the relationship to the student.

A Student’s Third party Authorization:

Information about you is held by numerous units across UBC including Enrolment Services, your Faculty, and Advisors with whom you have interacted. This information will only be released to third parties with your express consent. If you wish to give permission to a third party (e.g. parent, spouse, etc.) to access your information, please complete the Add Your New Contact section. By designating a third party, you are authorizing UBC to release specified information from your student record to that third party. Your designated third party will not be able to make changes to your record.

Step four

Under Area, select the area(s) of your record to share with your third party.
