Meet the team

Robert completed a Master of Education in Counselling and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor. He has worked in community mental health and hospitals but the majority of his work experience comes from supporting students within post-secondary settings. Originally from Toronto, then having lived in northern BC for some years, he started working at UBCO in 2017. He uses a trauma-informed, strength-based, emotion-focused, and harm reduction approach to his therapy work. His interests include student stress and distress, student identity development, trauma, grief & loss, addiction, and symptoms related to mental health diagnosis. He is an LGBTQIA2S+ ally and identifies as a cis male using he/him pronouns.

I am honoured to be the Interim Director of Student Wellness. I have been a part of the UBCO Community for 15 years and the Manager of the Disability Resource Centre for 9 years. Prior to working at UBCO I was a social worker supporting the disability communities in Kelowna. I have a Doctorate Degree that has led me to research and study accessibility and inclusion in higher education. I can be reached at 250-807-9263 or email me at

Hello everyone! I have been working with UBC Okanagan since 2017 and feel very lucky to work with such a diverse and vibrant community. Originally from Newfoundland, I have experienced firsthand the excitement – and challenges – of moving away from home and beginning a new chapter. After working or studying in several different provinces in Canada, I’m grateful to have moved to the beautiful Okanagan almost 9 years ago to obtain my Master of Social Work. In my spare time, you’ll often find me outside – I love camping, swimming, and hiking in the summer months, and snowshoeing, skating, and skiing in the winter. I also love visiting my family in Newfoundland each summer with my partner and our son. I look forward to being a part of your journey here at UBCO. Welcome!

I was born and raised in Windhoek, Namibia, and officially moved to Canada in 2008. Before my final move to Canada, I had the privilege to travel and live in the Netherlands, Spain, and the USA.

I have a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford and a Master of Social Work from UBCO. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, I have worked as a Mental Health Clinician and Counselor in different settings including Health Authorities, NGO’s such as UNAIDS, Red Cross in Southern Africa, and community mental health in British Columbia. From these settings, I have gained a diverse experience working with adults and young adults going through various life transitions, such as forced displacements, interpersonal violence, situational crisis, low-self-esteem, and trauma. I have a special interest in working with individuals who have experienced horizontal aggression or oppression. My passion is to create a safe space where individuals can feel heard, validated, and understood in ways that support their own healing and wellness.

Outside of my UBCO work I enjoy quality time with my family and friends and I also enjoy being a super spectator to sports like American football and Soccer. I look forward to meeting you and I wish you all the best in your studies at UBCO.

Hello! We are so excited you have chosen UBC Okanagan to pursue your postsecondary career and I hope I get to meet you!

I am the Manager for Campus Wellness and Education and it is my job to help students, staff, and faculty connect and work towards a healthier place to work, study and play. I am passionate about community, capacity building, wellbeing promotion, and coffee. I am happiest when I am out in nature with my giant mutt and I love writing, journaling, reading, and road trips with my family.

Hello! I have been working with UBC Okanagan since 2017 and feel privileged to work and be a part of the UBCO Student Wellness Clinic as a Health Office Assistant.

A mom of 3 and 1 fur baby.  My husband and I moved to the Okanagan 15 years ago to enjoy the “Okanagan Lifestyle”.   Depending on the season, I love spending time at the beach, going for walks and bike rides on my cruiser bike, skating, and skiing.

I focus on bringing positivity and joy to the Clinic.  looking forward to helping you navigate your medical needs.

I started my career in the medical setting at a Walk-in Clinic, after that, I spent 12 years doing administration and patient care at a Family Practice specializing in prenatal care.

Then in 2019, I was graciously given the opportunity to work here at UBCO, I felt an instant connection being on Campus supporting students as part of their University journey.

I feel very privileged to be part of the Student Wellness Department and am excited to continue moving forward to make the Student Clinic a safe and welcoming environment for students to seek the medical care they need.

In my downtime, my favorite place to be is outside!  I love connecting with family and friends, dabbling in art, and of course, long walks and cuddles with our dog Sadie.

Dr. Tin Jasinovic is a primary care physician. He recently completed his fellowship training in Sport and Exercise Medicine at the University of British Columbia where he obtained additional training in managing musculoskeletal conditions and gained robust experience working alongside Student Health physicians at the UBC Vancouver campus. While he has an interest in seeing acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and doing ultrasound-guided procedures; he is happy to help with any medical concern a student may have. He is currently serving as the Medical Director of the UBCO Student Health Clinic.

Hello! I am a Health Tech II at the UBCO Student Wellness Clinic. I started with UBCO in August of 2021 and feel very lucky to work with such a great team. I have lived in Kelowna for 15 years and love the lifestyle the Okanagan has to offer. I grew up in Merritt, BC, and after graduation moved to Banff, AB and saved money there to travel around the world and always had a place to go back to there in between adventures. I am married and have a daughter, our family loves to camp, boat, ski, cook, hike as well as spend time with our family and friends. I look forward to working with students, staff, and faculty at UBCO.

Hello all. I have been working at UBCO since 2015 in many different roles within the Student Wellness Clinic.  My work as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse has varied over my 30+ year career in a wide variety of multidisciplinary programs. Having moved from Saskatchewan (Go Riders) to Alberta and finally settled in Kelowna.  I love to spend time golfing, camping, and enjoying the beautiful Okanagan sunshine with hikes or just a walk in the park.  I feel privileged to be able to work and play in an exciting, healthy, and diverse community.  Welcome to UBCO and enjoy exploring the Okanagan community

My name is Haley Strother and I am a proud member of the Gitxsan Nation. I graduated from the UBCO Nursing Program back in 2016. Since then, I have been working in different care areas around the Okanagan. Fast forward to Fall 2021, I accepted a position at UBCO working in the Student Wellness Clinic on Campus. I am thrilled to be back at UBCO and have the opportunity to work alongside such an amazing team!

As a nurse, I am most passionate about health promotion and empowering people to take initiative in their own health. I believe that health care should be equitable and inclusive. As an Indigenous person, I have a keen interest in Indigenous Health. I love working at UBCO because I get to be a part of the positive change happening in the world! When I am not at work I am probably with my dogs (Fernie & Rupert), drinking coffee, walking in the woods, or listening to an audiobook.

Hi folks! I’m Paulina, Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Clinic Manager at Student Wellness. NPs provide holistic and comprehensive clinical care including the diagnosis and management of disease/illness, prescribing medications, ordering/interpreting laboratory/diagnostic tests, and initiating referrals to specialists. This is my 3rd year at UBCO and I absolutely love working with students, helping empower them to take charge of their mental and physical well-being. My nursing background is mostly in emergency and remote nursing in Indigenous communities, and my areas of interest are in women’s health, reproductive/sexual health, gender-affirming care, and mental health, but happy to see students for any health concerns. And you don’t need to have a health concern to come see us! Feel free to book an appointment to discuss preventative health care and how to optimize your wellness. When not at work, you will find me in my garden hanging out with my pet chickens and turkeys, foraging for mushrooms, hiking, or finding the next off-the-beaten-path hot spring.

Hello there! As a Registered Nurse specializing in mental health and substance use, I oversee the Harm Reduction Team (HaRT) run the equipment for people to get their drugs checked, and also do work related to climate change and older adults’ mental health. I graduated from UBCO with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014, and my Master of Science in Nursing in 2019. Since 2014 I’ve held various positions at UBCO and Kelowna General Hospital working in mental health and substance use (e.g., counseling, teaching, emergency mental health). I’ve grown up as a visitor on the unceded territory of the Okanagan Syilx nation, and have also lived in Zambia and New Zealand. When I’m not working or studying (also currently a doctoral student in nursing!) I love skiing, running, climbing, hiking, camping, and pretty much anything else that gets me outside!

My medical career started with receiving my medical degree at the University of Toronto in 1993.   I completed my Family Medicine Residency at the University of Ottawa in Dec 1995 having taken 6-month maternity leave during my residency for my first child.   I have been practicing as a fully licensed family physician since Jan 1996 when I joined a private family practice with two other family physicians in Belleville, Ontario.  In Belleville, I did office care, in-hospital care, and emergency shifts as well as OR assisting in dealing with full patient care from birth to end of life.  In the summer of 2004, our family relocated to Winnipeg where I started to practice at the University of Manitoba as a physician for students and staff of U of M similar to the clinic here at UBCO.  To escape the harsh long winters in Winnipeg and enjoy the active outdoor lifestyle in the Okanagan, my husband and I relocated to Kelowna in August 2021.  I joined the UBCO Health and Wellness team in September of 2021 with 17 years of experience in student health from the U of M.   I look forward to meeting you and helping as many of you as I can with your physical, sexual, and mental health needs during your time as a student at UBCO!

Being a student is an interesting part of your life – it is exciting, it is difficult and it’s a time where you learn so much about who you are. A lot of my understanding of self-developed during this time in my life. I am an immigrant and a child of immigrant parents, I identify as South Asian, Canadian, and Muslim (to name a few of my intersecting identities). There are many ways one understands themselves and the world around them. Navigating your educational life can be stressful, confusing, and absolutely wonderful and I’m here as support through that journey.

Originally from a small French community in Eastern Ontario, I joined the wonderful UBCO Student Wellness team in 2014. I have a Master of Social Work from the University of Ottawa and later completed advanced training at the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute while working full-time. I understand and remember all too well the challenges, delights, and stresses of being a student. I enjoy working from a strength-based approach and incorporating mindfulness, self-compassion, and creativity.

I love connecting with nature & the outdoors (minus the mosquitoes), whether it’s camping, hiking, or kayaking. Painting, photography, and cooking also have a special place in my heart. I look forward to lending you a hand in addressing any setback you are facing and building that resilient spirit so you are confident in your abilities. Your wellbeing matters.

You probably won’t see me around much as I am in the background mostly, making sure everyone else has everything they need to be successful while in the office.  I’ve lived in the Okanagan since 2006 and absolutely love raising my family here. When I’m not in the office I love paddle boarding and hiking with my three kids, or enjoying a coffee at my fav local coffee shop.

Hello!  I am originally from Alberta where I completed a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Calgary in 2002.  Since then, I have specialized in mental health, working in various roles including acute and emergency mental health, psychiatric consultation, teaching, case management, and counseling.  My work also provided me with an opportunity to live and work abroad in Australia.  After discovering my love for warm weather in Australia, I returned to Canada dreaming of milder temperatures.  This led me to the Okanagan in 2011 and I joined the UBC O Student Wellness team in 2019.  When I am not at work, I am usually on the go, outdoors.  Some favorites include snowboarding, cycling, hiking, and wake surfing.  I look forward to meeting you and connecting you to what you are seeking.
