Faculty & staff information

Academic advising is an on-campus resource committed to enhancing student success in all academic programs at UBC's Okanagan campus. Our approach is collaborative, involving the student, faculty, and other resources and supports.

What we do:

Engage students in academic planning

  • explain degree requirements, academic policies, and university regulations
  • provide support and program planning for transfer students
  • provide assistance with registration

Support students' academic and personal success

  • assist with setting academic and personal goals and developing plans to achieve them
  • offer skill development resources in areas such as time management, reading academic textbooks, note-taking, and study strategies
  • assess and recommend solutions to academic challenges and other barriers to success
  • promote reflective practice and transformative learning
  • coach students to find satisfaction in their studies

Connect students to other resources and professional services across campus

  • encourage students to make faculty and program connections
  • connect students to involvement experiences that enhance their learning
