Applications to Go Global are currently open to Round 1 applications.

DEADLINE:

Go Global has two deadlines each year for Winter Session programs:

Round 1: December 11, 2024 @ 11:59pm

  • Round 1 applications allow for Term 1, Term 2, Full Year, and Split Year* applications
  • All of our partner schools are available during this round
  • Each option will have a year listed after it which refers to the respective Winter session.
    • Ex/ “Term 1 2025” refers to Sept – Dec 2025, “Term 2 2025” refers to Jan – Apr 2026, etc.

Round 2: May 8, 2025 @ 11:59pm

  • Round 2 applications only allow for Term 2 and Split Year* applications
  • Only those partner schools that did not fill during Round 1 are available
  • The list of partner schools available for this round are posted to our Exchange page by early March each year

*Split Year dates are approximately February – November (Term 2 of one winter session, Term 1 of the next)

Look up the partner university requirements on each individual partner institution page under the “Who can go?” section and make sure you meet any additional requirements from the partner institution. We also strongly recommend that you research course availability and restrictions at each school you are applying for.

Applicants are encouraged to select three partner institutions in their application as students who only select one partner experience and are not successfully matched are only eligible for a small refund.

Having trouble narrowing down which schools to apply to? Try reviewing some student reports! Once you log-in to the Student Report database, click “Read a Report” to review submissions! Learn about other students personal accounts of their experience at partner schools to see if they are a good fit for you.

All students are required to write one Go Global Personal Reflection within Gateway. This is an opportunity for our team to get to know YOU and your personal and educational goals and show us you’ve spent time reflecting on the value of the exchange experience. There’s no strict format for your reflection, so feel free to express yourself in a way that feels natural to you. We suggest keeping it around 450 words. Some of the following writing prompts can help you get started:

  1. What is it about the place(s) you have selected that has drawn your interest?
  2. How might this program contribute to your personal, academic and career goals?
  3. How do you hope to grow from this experience, what do you hope to learn about yourself, and what skills do you expect to learn?

Students are welcome to seek clarity on the intent of the questions covered in this statement, however we are unable to provide direct feedback on your written submissions.

    • Note that only courses taken by UBC students and approved in the last five years are listed, many more courses are available at each of our partner institutions than those that are listed
