The Associate Vice-President Students leads a portfolio which supports student learning, development, and engagement through services and programs that aim to enhance student success, facilitate program connections between students and their academic units, and build institutional affinity. What we do

Academic & Career Development

We provide Academic & Career Advising, workshops and events to build your career readiness skills, and host employer programming at UBCO. Our goal is to help UBCO students navigate their degrees and career paths in the best way to achieve their personal and professional goals.

Athletics & Recreation

Welcome to UBCO, home to the Heat. Our Athletics team supports UBCO student-athletes and varsity athletics, while our Recreation team offers many ways to support physical wellbeing on campus for all students. Hit the gym, try out a group fitness class, or join an intramural league. Recreation is a fantastic way to meet new people, maintain your physical fitness, and take a healthy break from your academics.

Global Engagement Office

Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO)

SVPRO is where survivors or anyone who has been impacted by sexualized violence in the UBCO community can access various services. SVPRO aims to provide a safe space for students, staff, and faculty as well as assist with disclosures and provide support, while helping to educate the UBCO community on preventing and addressing the root causes of sexualized violence.

Student Engagement & Learning provides a wide range of holistic opportunities and services to support students’ personal and academic development as they transition into, progress through, and advance beyond university life.

Student Wellness

Good student health is foundational to student health and wellbeing, which relates directly to curricular and co-curricular education, learning and development, and to students’ progression towards educational achievement. The Student Wellness team works together and with our campus and community partners to provide excellence in student care.

Dale Mullings

Associate Vice-President, Students

Dale Mullings (he/him) joined UBC Okanagan in September 2020 as Associate Vice-President, Students, and comes from the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), where he served as Assistant Dean, Students and International Initiatives. Previously, he served as UTM’s Director, Residence and Student Life, and Director of Student Housing and Residence Life, and was an Instructor in Education Studies, at the University of Toronto.

As a key member of the UBC Okanagan Leadership Team, and a scholar-practitioner, Dale is focused on student success, with an emphasis on access, engagement, and retention. Dale has a strong record of collaboration with students, faculty, staff and community members. With an emphasis on integrated learning, he has led the development of several major student learning and development initiatives in partnership with academic departments, local school boards and non-profit organizations, and globally with non-governmental organizations and universities abroad.

He holds a Master of Education degree in higher education from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in political science and English, and is a PhD candidate in leadership, adult and higher education at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
