What is Create New Student Orientation?

Create is UBC's Okanagan campus' new student orientation program. This is a day-long series of events designed especially for the newest members of our close-knit campus community. We'll walk with you as you take your first steps as a new UBC student, and we'll give you the tools to launch you on your path to success.

During Create, you'll learn about the people, places, activities, and resources available to you at UBC's Okanagan campus. You'll meet lots of other students – some new and some not-so-new – as you explore your new university home. We'll also introduce you to faculty VIP's and give you the program-specific info you'll need to get started on the right academic path. Throw in some entertainment, food, prizes, and UBC loot, and you've got a fun-filled, jam-packed day to remember!

Create is not just for first-year students, it is for all New-to-UBC students!  If you are a graduate, mature or transfer student, you are welcome to join!

Create for Graduate Students

Create is UBC's Okanagan campus' new student orientation program. It is a day-long series of events aimed at giving the newest members of our campus community information about the people, places, activities, and resources available at UBC's Okanagan campus. All new graduate students are invited to be a part of Create day. Since the graduate student experience is different to the undergraduate student experience, students who have already attended UBC Okanagan for their undergraduate program are welcome to join us for Create.

During Create, you'll meet lots of other students as you explore the university; there will be opportunities to converse with peers from your own faculty, school, or unit, and also with peers from other disciplines, making Create an interdisciplinary experience for graduate students. We will also introduce you to important individuals who will support you throughout your graduate journey, in addition to providing you with the information you'll need to get you started on your path to success.

Specific parts of orientation will be designed with your needs as a graduate student in mind. For example, a Campus Tour will focus on campus locations that will be of most interest to you as a graduate student, in addition to all of the other key locations that UBC's Okanagan campus has to offer. You will be led through the orientation by current graduate students who have unique insight into being a graduate at UBC Okanagan. Orientation Leaders will be able to help guide you through questions you may have during the day.

In addition to the information sessions, there will be entertainment, food and prizes, making Create a fun-filled, information-packed day to remember!

Create will support you in your first steps on your graduate journey and we look forward to welcoming you on campus!

Graduate Students: Please note, if you have not already done so, you must email the College of Graduate Studies at gradadmissions.ok@ubc.ca to accept, decline or request to defer your admission offer.
