Aboriginal Student Orientation
Monday, September 3rd, 2018
What is it?
Join us for this fun and informative social event! Now that you have made the decision to attend UBC's Okanagan campus, it's time to discover the campus as a new student! Aboriginal Student Orientation is designed to help familiarize students with the campus while building a community for students. Whether you are coming to the Okanagan for the first time or you have lived here previously, this orientation will help you prepare for a successful start at UBC. Students generally spend the first year getting to know their campus community and developing connections and meaningful relationships. There will be a lot of great door prizes too.
Who is it for?
This event is open to all First Nation students (status and non-status), Métis, and Inuit students new to UBC's Okanagan campus.
Is there a cost?
Free event for all new Aboriginal students!
What is the length of Aboriginal Student Orientation?
ASO will start at 10am and will end at 2:30pm (Lunch is offered). New students can request a campus tour at the end of ASO to have one of us guide a tour.
September 4th, 2017 Aboriginal Orientation
Last year, Aboriginal Programs & Services staff and student staff welcomed over 80 new to UBC students for Aboriginal Student Orientation from all different programs. Students played interactive games, did a photo scavenger hunt, and had a presentation from Aboriginal Advisors. They also won some great prizes while getting to know each other and the campus.
About the Logo
"The Aboriginal Student Orientation logo combines a compass, the medicine wheel, and a path through the land. It illustrates an Aboriginal perspective and holistic approach to giving students the tools they need to navigate the University landscape." Ashleigh Green.
