This tutorial applies to both undergraduate and graduate students on the Okanagan campus.
There are two primary ways you can register for courses in Workday. You can register for individual courses one at a time, or you can create a saved schedule and register for all your courses at once, which is covered in the tutorial below.

How to create a saved schedule
1. On the Workday homepage, click the “View My Saved Schedules” button.
2. Click the “Create Saved Schedules” button.
3. Enter a name for the saved schedule and select an Academic Period.
- If you have more than one academic record (e.g., concurrent Master’s degree and PhD students), select the academic record you are creating the schedule for.
- Tip: Since you can create as many saved schedules as you wish, it can be helpful to identify the academic year and term in the name to avoid confusion (e.g., “2026W Term 1 First Choice”).
- Reminder: You must make a separate saved schedule for each Academic Term. Courses that span Term 1 and Term 2 will only appear in the Term 1 saved schedule.
4. Select “Ok”.
Select courses to add to your saved schedule
1. Search for a course using the search box and/or;
2. Use the filters to narrow down your search by Academic Level, Delivery Mode, Meeting Days, etc.
3. Click on the down arrow beside a course name to expand it. You can view the required course activities (e.g., lecture, lab, discussion, etc.), grouped by activity type.
4. Click on the:
- “i” icon to view course section details. Please note that add/drop deadlines are not included here. View the course schedule to find the add/drop date for course sections.
- “+” icon to add a course to your saved schedule.
- trash can icon to remove a course from your saved schedule.

Errors and alerts
If there are any errors or alerts in your saved schedule, they will appear in the top right corner, in an orange or a red box. Select the box to view the descriptions for the errors and/or alerts.
- Red error: You must resolve this error before you are able to save your saved schedule.
- Orange alerts: You can save your saved schedule, but you will need to resolve this alert before registering.

To view your alerts after exiting your saved schedule:
1. On the Workday homepage, select the “View My Saved Schedules” button.
2. If there are any alerts, they will appear under the “Alerts” column for the applicable saved schedule.
3. View the Resolving saved schedules alerts tutorial to find out how to manage and resolve alerts prior to registration.
How to edit a saved schedule
1. On the Workday homepage, click the “View My Saved Schedules” button.
2. In the actions column for the saved schedule you want to change, select “Edit”. Do not click “Remove”. This will delete your entire saved schedule.
3. Delete courses by clicking on the course section you want to remove and then select the trash can icon. Remember to remove all associated activities for the course (e.g., lab, discussion, etc.).
4. Add any new course sections.
5. Select the “Save” button once you have finished making edits.
How to register in courses from a saved schedule
Before registering in courses
If you choose to register all your courses using a saved schedule, make sure to review and manage your saved schedule to resolve alerts, conflicts, and holds on your record before registration opens. This can help prevent issues during your registration process.
Navigate to a saved schedule
On the Workday homepage, select the “View My Saved Schedules” button.
Register a saved schedule
Reminder: If registering for two terms, you must register for Term 1 before registering for Term 2.
1. Click the “Register” button.
- The button will only appear when your registration appointment opens.
2. Make any last-minute changes or resolve course conflicts before registering. If you have unresolved course conflicts, you will not be registered in the conflicting courses.
3. Once you are ready, click the “Register” button in the lower left corner. Your registration will be processed in Workday.
Review registration
After you complete your registration, a registration summary will appear on the screen in a table format. The summary is divided into three sections:
1. Unsuccessful registrations
- You were not registered in these courses. Review the “Reason” column to find out why your registration was unsuccessful.
2. Waitlisted registrations
- You were added to the waitlist of these courses. You may be offered a spot in the course if a seat becomes available. Make sure your email address is correct in Workday to receive these messages.
3. Successful registrations
- You were successfully registered in these course sections. Click the “View Registered Courses” button in the lower left corner under the table summary for a complete list of your registered courses.
Register for Term 2
Once you have completed your registration for Term 1, repeat the steps above to register for Term 2.
