How to view your waitlisted courses
Go to your waitlisted courses
1. On the Workday homepage, click the “View My Courses” button.
2. Scroll down to the “My Waitlisted Courses” table.
The “My Waitlisted Courses” table includes course sections for all terms of an academic session. For example, if you are viewing the Winter Session, the “My Waitlisted Courses” table will include waitlists for both Term 1 and Term 2. Review the “Start Date” and “End Date” to see which term the course falls in.
How to register in a course from the waitlist
The waitlist process varies depending on which department is offering the course.
If you are waitlisted for a course, you will receive an email invitation to register if a seat becomes available.
In most cases, you will only have 24 hours to accept the seat before it goes to the next student on the waitlist. Make sure to monitor your email frequently and ensure your email address is correct in Workday.
Follow the steps below to accept your seat, deny your seat but remain on the waitlist, or remove yourself from the waitlist.
| If you receive an email notification directly from a UBC staff member, you must follow the instructions that they provide to accept your seat within the course. |
View your waitlist task
1. In Workday, click the “My Tasks” inbox icon.
2. Select the message with the subject line “Course Opening Available”.
Respond to the seat availability
From the “My Tasks” message, you can take the following actions:
- Click “Submit” to accept your seat

6. Click the arrow next to “Details and Processes” to expand the section and view a confirmation of your enrolment.
Deny the seat (and stay on the waitlist)
If you deny your seat, your spot will be given to the next student on the waitlist. You will remain on the waitlist and will be notified again if another seat becomes available to you.
1. Click the “Deny” button.
2. Enter your reason for denying the offer in the “Reason” field.
3. Click the “Submit” button.
