This tutorial applies to both undergraduate and graduate students on the Okanagan campus.
There are two primary ways you can register for courses in Workday. You can register for individual courses one at a time, or you can create a saved schedule and register for all your courses at once, which is covered in the tutorial below.

How to create a saved schedule
Navigate to the course schedule
Follow the instructions to view the course schedule.
Add a course to a saved schedule
Once you find a course you want to add to a saved schedule:
1. Click the course title to open the course description.
2. Review the course description for registration requirements. These may include prerequisite and corequisite courses, or additional sections you must also enroll in.
- Learn more about prerequisite and corequisite courses in the Academic Calendar.
3. Add all the required course activities to your saved schedule (e.g., Lecture, laboratory, tutorial etc.).
4. Click the “Add to Saved Schedule” button to continue.
5. If you want to add the course to an existing saved schedule, select “All” and then choose a saved schedule from the drop-down menu.
Or select “Create Student Registration Saved Schedule” to make a new saved schedule. Enter a name in the “Saved Schedule Name” field.
- Since you can create as many saved schedules as you wish, it can be helpful to identify the academic year and term in the name to avoid confusion (e.g., “2026W Term 1 First Choice”).
6. Click the “OK” button to continue.
7. If you have more than one academic record (e.g., concurrent Master’s degree and PhD students), select the academic record you are creating the schedule for.
8. Click the “Choose Times” button to select your course sections.
- You can check your eligibility for a course section by looking at the “Eligible” column. You are eligible for the section if the box is checked off.
- Make sure you aren’t selecting a course section, date, or time that overlaps with another course on your saved schedule.
9. Click the checkbox in the “Select” column to add a course activity to your saved schedule. You can only select one section for each activity.
10. Add a section for each of the required activities for the course. For example, you may need to take a lab or discussion in addition to lectures.
11. Click the “OK” button.
12. Click the “Add Course Sections” button to continue adding courses to your saved schedule.
13. Click the “Done” button.
If you see an alert on your saved schedule, you may need to complete an action to avoid registration issues. Learn how to resolve saved schedule alerts.
How to view a saved schedule
Go to your saved schedule
1. After navigating to the “Registration & Courses” tab in the Academics app, click the “View My Saved Schedules” link in the “Registration” menu to the right.
2. Select the academic period you want to view your saved schedules for using the “Start Date within” field.
3. Click the “Okay” button.
4. You can now see your saved schedule in a table format. Select the “Calendar View” button to display your courses in a weekly calendar format. Reminder: 6-credit courses that span Term 1 and Term 2 will only appear in the Term 1 saved schedule.
How to register in courses from a saved schedule
| This function will not be available to you in Workday until your registration appointment opens. |
Before registering in courses
If you choose to register all your courses using a saved schedule, make sure to review and manage your saved schedule to resolve alerts, conflicts, and holds on your record before registration opens. This can help prevent issues during your registration process.

Follow the instructions above to view a saved schedule.
Register a saved schedule
Reminder: If registering for two terms, you must register for Term 1 before registering for Term 2.
1. Click the “Start Registration” button on the left, under your saved schedule table summary. The button will only appear when registration opens for you.
2. Make any last-minute changes or resolve course conflicts before registering. If you have unresolved course conflicts, you will not be registered in the conflicting courses.
3. Once you are ready, click the “Register” button in the lower left corner. Your registration will be processed in Workday.
Review registration
After you complete your registration, a registration summary will appear on the screen in a table format. The summary is divided into three sections:
1. Unsuccessful registrations
- You were not registered in these courses. Review the “Reason” column to find out why your registration was unsuccessful.
2. Waitlisted registrations
- You were added to the waitlist of these courses. You may be offered a spot in the course if a seat becomes available. Make sure your email address is correct in Workday to receive these messages.
3. Successful registrations
You were successfully registered in these course sections. Click the “View Registered Courses” button in the lower left corner under the table summary for a complete list of your registered courses.
Register for Term 2
Once you have completed your registration for Term 1, repeat the steps above to register for Term 2.
