Tandem Language Learning Program

Teach a language. Learn a language.

student, language, program

Tandem Language Exchange program provides an opportunity to teach a language you know and learn a language you want to develop. Meet people from different cultures, improve your language learning outside the classroom, gaining valuable assets for international travel, future employment, or open the door to another culture.

For the 2020/2021 Winter session, the Tandem Language Learning Program will be run virtually in collaboration with the UBC Vancouver campus. UBC Okanagan students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible!

Registration is required.

The deadline to register for the Tandem program is September 24, 2020 at 11:59 PM PST

How it works

The UBC tandem Language Learning Program is a free initiative, in which participants that wish to improve their conversational fluency in a language are matched with a partner who speaks this language fluently, and at the same time wants to improve in the language the first person speaks. It is a program designed to build community through additional language acquisition, foster intercultural communication, and enhance cross-cultural understanding on campus.

The program runs for 9 weeks each semester, and pairs are expected to meet once a week for 1.5 hours in order to teach each other their mother tongue (or a language in which they are highly proficient).

Access to the Tandem Program is available through your CWL login
