Meet the team

I’m a fourth-year Computer Science major and Team Lead of the Black Student Space! I’m excited to return to this role for a second year and continue creating a welcoming and empowering space for black students on campus. In my free time, I enjoy reading, singing, and travelling! I look forward to planning events, activities, and programs for you all to attend and enjoy. Please feel free to say hi if you ever see me around, and come to me with any suggestions you want to see implemented in the Black Student Space or overall Black Student Success Program.

I am a second-year Mechanical Engineering student, and I am proud to serve as a Black Student Space Assistant. I am passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. Working in this role allows me to connect with my peers, celebrate our diverse cultures, and advocate for the needs of Black students. I believe that everyone deserves a space where they can express themselves freely and feel valued, and I am dedicated to making that a reality in our school community.

I’m in my second year of nursing. I moved to Kelowna from Winnipeg, but I’m originally Ghanaian. Aside from nursing, I love volunteering and being involved in my community. I also love dancing, and I’m a member of the ACSC dance team. My favorite thing about UBCO is the black community here. Thanks to the Black Student Space and the two black-oriented clubs on campus, I have found a community where I truly belong, and this is one of our goals for the Black Student Space as student staff.

I am Ghanaian, and I am a third-year Computer Science and Management student from Vancouver, BC. A fun fact about me is that I love DIY projects. If I can make it myself, I will! I love getting creative with clothing, pottery, jewelry, and different crafts. In my free time, I enjoy staying active, exploring Kelowna with friends, reading, or catching up on movies and shows from my watchlist. I am beyond excited for year two of the Black Student Space, and I look forward to continuing to build connections, representation, and a strong sense of belonging in our UBCO community.

I’m in my fourth year pursuing a Bachelor of Management with a focus on accounting. I’m passionate about service and community, which is reflected in my role as VP External for the African Caribbean Student Club (ACSC), where I work to build connections and create opportunities for others. Outside of academics, I enjoy playing basketball and golf, which help me stay active and meet new people.

I’m a fifth-year psychology student, and I’m excited to be part of the Black Student Space team this year! Since its opening last year, I’ve seen how important this space is to building community, connection, and care for black students on campus, and I look forward to contributing to that. In my free time, I love listening to music, reading, and I’ve recently started to learn how to crochet.
