When you arrive in Canada, take these steps before starting your studies.

After-arrival checklist

AFTER ARRIVING IN BRITISH COLUMBIA:

  1. Apply for the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP)
  2. Check that you have iMED health insurance
  3. Apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  4. Add your document expiry dates to UBC’s Reminder System
  5. After self-quarantine, get a BCID to avoid carrying your passport for identification.
  6. Learn how to get vaccinated or register your vaccine if you’ve been vaccinated outside of BC

Be sure to check BC public health guidelines and see COVID-19 and UBC’s response for updates. If you have COVID-19 symptoms, check the BC Centre for Disease Control website for guidance.
