What is a Collegium?
Collegium comes from the latin word meaning "gathering place".
Collegia are on-campus spaces that will offer a "home away from home" for commuter students at UBC's Okanagan campus. Collegia will offer students a place to hang out, eat lunch, spend time with classmates, and do school work. Each Collegium has a relaxing lounge-style atmosphere and is outfitted with comfortable furniture, individual and group work spaces, and kitchen facilities.
Collegia are staffed by senior students who welcome members, answer questions, offer referrals, and plan programs and events.
How do I get involved?
If you are a UBC Okanagan student who does not live on campus, you are welcomed to stop by! Spend time in the Collegia frequently and get to know the staff and other students, take advantage of programs and events, and learn about valuable resources on campus.
What do the titles of each Collegium mean?
There are themes for each of our Collegia related to the programming we create for the students who use each space. Each Collegium is outfitted with similar amenities and furniture. Find out which space works best for you by checking them all out!Want to see more images of our spaces, check out our photo album.
