This tutorial applies to graduate students within the College of Graduate Studies only. If you are a Master of Management student, instructions specific to your graduation application will be made available in late September.
Introduction
To graduate, you must submit a formal application for graduation in Workday. This application is referred to as the “Program Completion Application,” wherein the term “Program Completion” is synonymous with graduation. Throughout this document, we will use “Program Completion” to denote the Workday terminology; however, it does not replace “graduation” in our UBC lexicon.
After submitting your application, you can view your program completion status at any time in the Apply for Program Completion screen, as shown in the steps below.
Step 1: Find the Apply for Program Completion screen
a. Navigate to the Academics app
b. Click on the ‘Graduation’ tab
Step 2: View your Program Completion Status
Your application status will appear in the ‘Program Completion Application Status’ widget.
If you completed both application and questionnaire, you will see a screen with two different statuses:
a. Student Program of Study Record Status
This is the field as your Program of Study Status that is listed under your Educational Objective table on the Academics > Overview screen. After a successful application submission, this status will change from “In Progress” to “Pending Completion”. This status will remain “Pending Completion” until your degree has been conferred, at which point it will change to “Completed”.
b. Program Completion Status
This status reflects the stage of your application.
Program Completion Status | Description |
Applied for Completion | Your application has been submitted successfully and is pending adjudication. |
Approved for Completion | Your application has been reviewed by an advisor. You have been approved to graduate. |
Evaluation Deferred | Your application has been reviewed by an advisor. You will be approved for graduation upon successful completion of your remaining academic requirements in your final term. |
Denied | You have not satisfied the academic requirements for graduation, or have withdrawn your application for program completion. |
Program Completed | Your degree has been conferred by Senate. |
If you submitted the application and not the questionnaire, you will not see anything populated in the Program Completion Application Status widget. Navigate to your My Tasks inbox to complete your questionnaire.
Your questionnaire must be submitted before the application deadline or your application will not be reviewed.
