2026 UBC Black Student Leadership Summit
January 30 to 31, 2026 | Free | Applications closed
The inaugural UBC Black Student Leadership Summit is a two-day experience focused on leadership, learning, and connection.
Taking place January 30–31, 2026, the Summit will bring together Black students from UBC Okanagan and UBC Vancouver to:
- Strengthen leadership skills and experiences that create impact within the UBC community and beyond.
- Build a lasting network of Black student leaders, mentors, and peers.
- Explore the unique dimensions of Black leadership at UBC, recognizing both opportunities and systemic challenges.
- Engage directly with Black mentors, community leaders, and alumni.
Airfare, accommodations, and other travel expenses will be covered for successful Summit applicants.

Black Student Orientation: Kickback
Kickback is our yearly orientation event. Folks on campus can stop by to mingle and grab a bite to eat while enjoying great music, playing lawn games, and more.

Destination UBC for Black students
Join us at Destination UBC and start building your community. Meet fellow admitted students, staff (including the Black Student Success Coordinator), and connect with current UBC students. You will also learn more about the Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Program and the clubs, societies, and resources available on campus.
Destination UBC is held each year in May.
