About the space

The Black Student Space is a dedicated space for Black-identifying students to connect, build community, and find support. This safe and welcoming environment is open for drop-in use throughout the day, allowing students to relax, study, and socialize. In the evenings, the space is available for small groups to book for meetings, events, or study sessions.

Small group bookings

The Black Student Space can accommodate small group non-exclusive bookings of up to 12 people for group meetings or small events.  

Please note: this is an open-access space and other students may be using the space at the same time as your booking.

Drop-in use: Daily from 6 am to 1 am

*The space will be closed for cleaning on Sundays from 12pm – 1pm

Small group booking availability

Monday to Friday: 5 to 10 pm

Saturday to Sunday: All day

Space amenities

To help students feel comfortable, the space is outfitted with:

  • Solo and group study space
  • Comfortable lounge chairs and a sofa
  • TV screen and whiteboard
  • A tea bar and kettle
