About removing your program of study
If you are no longer completing your minor or second major, you can follow the instructions below to drop the secondary program from your record.
You cannot use this process to drop your primary program. If you want to stop your studies at UBC or drop the primary program you are currently enrolled in, contact an advisor to discuss your options.
How to remove a program of study
First, go to your profile in Workday
- Log into your Workday account at myworkday.ubc.ca.
- On the Workday home screen, click your user icon in the top right corner.
- Click the “View Profile” button in the pop-up menu.
Next, go to your academics overview
- Click the “Academics” tab in the left menu.
- By default, you’ll be viewing the information under the “Overview” tab in the top menu.
Remove your program of study
- You should see a table with your program of study details. Click on the white “Request” button next to the program you want to remove.
- Select “Remove Program of Study” from the drop-down list.
- In the “Remove Program of Study” window, find the program to remove and check its box.
- Click the “Confirm” checkbox.
- Click the orange “Submit” button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
Confirm your changes
Review your academics overview to confirm that your program has been removed. Follow the previous instructions above to go to your academics overview.
The Status for the Program of Study will change to “Discontinued” when your program is successfully removed.
Faculty approvals
Some faculties or programs such as BASc and Graduate programs need to approve the change in the system for you to remove a program of study.
If you do not see your program of study change immediately, it is because your change requires approval and a request has been sent to a UBC administrator. You will not be able to make any other program changes until your request has been approved or denied.
You will receive a notification in Workday if your request is denied. Click on the “Notifications” bell icon in the menu bar to view the details.
