If you are both a student and an employee at UBC, Workday allows you to view both your Student and Worker profiles and choose which profile appears by default when you log in.
Go to your Profile Summary in Workday
1. Log into your Workday account at myworkday.ubc.ca.
2. Click the user icon in the top right corner.
3. Next:
- To view your Worker and Student information: Click the “View Profile” button.
- To change your default profile view: Click “My Account”.

3. Depending on your selection:
- View Profile: The Summary page will display your Worker and Student information. Select your name under “Worker” to view your employee profile.
- My Account: Select “Change Preferences” and scroll to “Preferred Default Profile View” under the “Account Preferences” section. Here you can choose your default profile view to be “Student” or “Worker”.
Maintaining information on your profiles
If you have a Student and a Worker profile in Workday, any updates that are made to your personal information (legal name, preferred names, citizenship, etc.) and home contact information will update on both your Student and Worker profiles at the same time.
Emergency Contact information is not shared between profiles. You will need to add an emergency contact to your Worker profile and to your Student profile. These do not need to be the same emergency contact person. Ensure you have emergency contact information entered on both profiles.
