Overview
- Starting June 2024, continuing graduate students will have registration into a course named “GRTU 001 – Continuous Enrolment for Tuition Installment” for each active Academic Period after their first term of study.
- The GRTU does not replace the requirement that students be registered in, at minimum, one academic (non-GRTU) course every term of their enrollment (unless they are on a formal Leave of Absence).
- For students in thesis-based programs who have completed all course requirements, they would be required to be in a thesis or dissertation course.
How and when will the GRTU course be added to student records:
- Registration will be handled automatically. For students in graduate programs with a status of “In Progress,” the integration will be run nightly by Enrolment Services based on the schedule below:
- For Winter Term 1 – registration in GRTU 001 will start June 30 and will end Dec 31
- For Winter Term 2 – registration in GRTU 001 will start June 30 and will end April 30
- For Summer session – registration in GRTU 001 will start in late January and will end August 31
Understanding GRTU courses on your academic record
- You will see the GRTU courses listed under your current classes and in your academic history.
- Registration in these courses ensures you are continuously enrolled in your program and assesses your required tuition installments. It does not replace the requirement to register each session.
- You do not need to attend or complete any course work for the GRTU courses.
- At the end of each term, a grade of NGR (No Grade Required) will be entered for these courses automatically.
- The course and grade will not appear on your transcript or in Canvas.
- If you drop or withdraw from the course, the system will re-register you the next day if your program is still “In Progress”. Staff in the College of Graduate Studies will make the necessary changes to your academic record if you are no longer studying in a term or session.
