Indigenous Pathways to Graduate Studies

Prepare for a graduate program, and explore education beyond a bachelor's degree, in a holistic, supportive environment.

Program overview

Over the course of the Winter academic session (Sept-March), undergraduate students interested in exploring graduate-level education (e.g., master’s or PhD degree) will:

  • Strengthen their understanding of the graduate studies experience and the application process;
  • Strengthen and apply skills that will help them succeed in a graduate program;
  • Network with UBC Okanagan students, staff and faculty;
  • Discover opportunities for different pathways to graduate studies programs;
  • Participate in a mix of mandatory and optional workshops, experiential events, social gatherings, professional development opportunities, and land-based learning opportunities; and
  • Receive a monthly financial stipend for their involvement.

Eligibility

Students eligible include those who:

  • have self-identified as Indigenous in the SISC,
  • will be registered as a full-time undergraduate student at UBC’s Okanagan Campus in the 2023/24 Winter Session (September-April),
  • will have second-year standing or above,
  • are interested in exploring the potential to pursue graduate-level education in the future (e.g., master’s degree, doctoral/PhD degree), and
  • can commit to participate in regular programming and workshops from September 2023 to March 2024.

Whether you are already planning to pursue graduate studies after your undergraduate degree, or you aren’t yet sure what your plans are after graduation, you are welcome to apply.
