Attending graduation

The Okanagan Senate grants degrees twice annually at the UBC Okanagan Campus but the ceremonies are held only in June. Students whose degrees are granted in November will be invited to attend the following June ceremony.

Before graduation

Graduation and professional photo sittings are available on campus by GradImages twice a year, normally in January and March. For more information see preparing to graduate.

Note: Students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program should contact their Student Union for information on their grad photo options.

On or after graduation

  • Students attending graduation ceremony: GradImages is on campus and available for students to have graduation photos taken on graduation day.
  • Students not planning to attend the graduation ceremony: You are welcome to contact GradImages and schedule an appointment when it is convenient.

Getting your diploma

November conferral

Diplomas are printed just before the November Senate meeting. You can pick up your diploma at Student Services or you can pay to have your diploma couriered to you. You also have the option of waiting to receive your diploma the following June at the graduation ceremonies.

If you’re attending the ceremony

You can start planning at the graduation at UBC website. You’ll receive your diploma when you cross the stage at the ceremony.

If you’re not attending the ceremony

You can pickup your diploma or pay for your diploma to be couriered.

Pickup: ​You may pick up your diploma or have it picked up by someone else on your behalf, by filling out the third-party document pickup section in the SSC. Your diploma will be ready for pick up at Student Services in the University Centre on June 10, 2020.

Courier: Students who have selected courier on their graduation application can pay the courier fee on SSC. Online payment is not enabled until your degree has been conferred.

  • ​Log-in to SSC, under the Graduation tab click ‘Courier my Original Diploma’. You will be able to pay the courier fee and provide the address where you would like your diploma couriered to.
  • We start packaging diplomas as soon as the graduation period ends and start sending them out via courier in early to mid-June.
  • To switch your selection on the grad application from pickup to courier, edit your application or email us at after June 1.
  • Couriers cannot deliver to PO boxes.

Changing your ceremony attendance

You’ll be able to change your selection on the Student Service Centre (SSC) until June 1.
