About us

Madhu is a third year psychology major in the Bachelor of Arts program. Ever since she moved to Kelowna and started at the university in 2017, she has been trying to master the art of balancing academics with a social life, while also trying to keep up with the new adult responsibilities that come with being far away from home. Come talk to her about staying on track with classes while trying not to get distracted by the hundreds of new additions to streaming services every day!

Harshita is in her second year in the Bachelor of Arts program and is interested in studying
Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE). Harshita hails from Chandigarh, India. She bought her first planner in grade 5 and has used 12 different planners ever since. She might be
able to help you overcome procrastination and organize. As a bonus, she might offer you a planner!

Study skills support

There are many ways to approach learning, but to learn effectively, you need to tailor your study habits to your own needs. This often means understanding your interests, motivations, and tendencies that influence your learning—and choosing strategies that maximize your strengths.

Peer learning strategists

The Student Learning Hub has dedicated learning strategists available to provide individualized support, encourage exploration, and promote positive change in your studying and learning practices.

Through one-on-one, strength-based conversations, your peer learning strategist can help you set, meet, evaluate and achieve your academic goals.

How a peer learning strategist can help

The learning strategists are here to help you navigate your learning, encourage your strengths, and develop personalized strategies you can use to overcome the challenges of academic life. A learning strategist can help you develop your skills in:

  • Time management
  • Note taking
  • Reading textbooks
  • Motivation
  • Procrastination
  • Focusing in class
  • Preparing for exams
  • Metacognition (applying and analysing course information)
  • Writing exams
