BC’s proof of vaccination requirements

As we plan your return to campus for the 2021/22 Winter Session, your health and safety is our first priority.

In British Columbia (BC), proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required to access certain events, services, and businesses in the province. Getting vaccinated keeps everyone in BC safe, and stops the spread of COVID-19.

Starting Monday, Sept. 13, you must have at least one dose. By Sunday, Oct 24, you must be fully vaccinated. Post-secondary students living in on-campus housing must be partially vaccinated by Sept. 7

Proof of vaccination

Your BC Vaccine Card shows proof of your vaccination. When the digital format launches on Monday, Sep 13, you’ll be able to save your vaccine card to your smartphone and show it to access certain events, services, and businesses.

If you haven’t been vaccinated yet

If you are not yet vaccinated, make a plan to receive your COVID-19 vaccination.

COVID-19 vaccinations are free for all UBC students, including international students. You can choose to drop in to a clinic near you, or register for an appointment to get your vaccine.

Interior Health pop-up clinics will be open on campus at the Administration Building on Sept. 8 and 17, from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. Please bring photo ID and information about any previous COVID vaccines that you have received.

If you received the COVID-19 vaccine somewhere outside of British Columbia

If you were vaccinated in another province or country, no matter what vaccine you received, you may upload your information in order to obtain your BC Vaccine Card. If you need a BC Personal Health Number to upload your information, call a BC Services agent at 1 888 268 4319, then upload your COVID-19 immunization record.

You are required to complete all of the following if you received one or two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine in another province or country:

If you were vaccinated against COVID-19 outside of Canada, check your eligibility for the vaccine for guidance on whether it is recommended that you get an additional COVID-19 vaccination in British Columbia. A doctor will determine the appropriate dose.
