Global Seminar Award

$1,000

ELIGIBILITY: 

All students accepted into Global Seminar programs will be considered for the Global Seminar Award. A separate application is not required. To be eligible, you must successfully achieve 70% on your best nine credits of Term 1 (with no failed or incomplete courses). For programs running outside of the Summer Session, eligibility is determined based on performance in the Term 2 preceding the Global Seminar.

This award is open to undergrad, graduate, domestic and international students.

Pathfinder Award

ABOUT:

Through the Global Pathfinder Award, established in 2019, UBC will award $100,000 in total funding to students who face barriers to participation in Go Global programming.

DEADLINE: 

Applications are now CLOSED for this award. The deadline to apply for the Global Pathfinder Award was November 10, 2023. 

VALUE:

$2000 for Summer and Research experiences

Award recipients will be notified of funding before the Go Global application deadline

ELIGIBILITY: 

Criteria for this award is broad in scope to recognize that all students have unique circumstances, that may impact their ability to participate in international learning. Below is a list of suggested criteria that the selection committee may use.

  • Have not participated in a Go Global program in the past
  • Have unmet financial needs that hinder participation
  • Are eligible to participate in a Go Global program, and are in good standing in their faculty
  • Commitments and experience outside of school will be considered including:
    • family commitments
    • job commitments
    • community/faith commitments
  • Students that belong to under-represented or marginalized groups

 

Corbishley Award

DEADLINE:

March, 2024 – More details will be provided

VALUE:

$2,000 – will be provided to 2 students. For those successful recipients, you will no longer be able to receive the $1,000 Global Seminar Award

ELIGIBILITY: 

To be eligible, you must successfully achieve 70% on your best nine credits of Term 1 (with no failed or incomplete courses). This award is open to undergrad, graduate, domestic and international students. A separate application will be posted here and will be due in March 2024. 

Indigenous Global Connections

DEADLINE:

Automatically considered with program application. The programs identified by the IGC funds are the Mexico and Australia programs for 2024.

VALUE:

$4,000

ELIGIBILITY: 

This award is available for students who are Canadian citizens and permanent residents participating in a Global Seminar program supported by Indigenous Global Connections (IGC)*. The intention of this award is to support students who identify as being Indigenous or are interested in international learning experiences centered on Indigenous topics and dialogue.

  • Students must hold Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Undergraduate students currently in 2nd year or above
  • Students who self-identify as being First Nations, Métis or Inuk (Inuit) are prioritized
  • Students on both UBC campuses are eligible

AWARD REQUIREMENTS

  • Participate in pre- and post-experience dialogue with other students participating in this program
  • Students receiving IGC funding will be required to submit additional program surveys from the Canadian government and provide receipts for flights
  • If you withdraw after accepting your spot, you are required to return any award funds received
