Meet Our Team

Philipp Reichert

Manager, International Programs & Services

Philipp Reichert has worked with International Programs & Services at UBC's Okanagan campus since 2012 and has over a decade of experience studying and working internationally. Before joining UBC, Philipp was employed at the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) with their International and Executive MBA programmes, and worked prior to that at The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS) in the Netherlands. He is a Nuffic Huygens scholar and received his Master’s degree with honours in International Relations from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands.

Philipp has also attended educational institutions in Canada, USA, and Germany. Currently he is completing his doctoral studies, with his research focusing on the internationalization of higher education and the nexus of government policy, institutional programming, and international student career transitions. In addition to his professional role at UBC, Philipp is an instructor and consultant for the Canadian Bureau for International Education’s (CBIE) International Students and Immigration Education Program (ISIEP)Philipp wishes you all the best in your studies at UBC and hopes that you stop by the office for any questions you may have or just for a chat!

 Saher Ahmed

International Student Advisor

Saher Ahmed is an International Student Advisor for International Programs & Services at UBC Okanagan. Saher holds a Master's degree in Women's and Gender Studies from Carleton University in which she has specialized in migration, diaspora, intercultural and Gender based analysis.  She also completed a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Gender Studies from the University of Victoria. Saher is passionate about meeting and interacting with students from all over the world. She wishes you a successful academic year and is looking forward to meeting you at International Program and Services.

Danai Bélanger

International Student Advisor

Danai Bélanger is an International Student Advisor for International Programs & Services at UBC Okanagan. She completed her Master of Education (Diversity) from UBC Okanagan and her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English from Memorial University. She is also a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC).

Danai has spent almost a decade working with international students across the country in Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Ontario, and British Columbia. As a former international student to Canada, Danai appreciates the unique experiences that international students face. She enjoys interacting with students and learning about new cultures. She hopes that you will have a fantastic time living and learning in Canada and wishes you every success in your academic journey at UBC Okanagan.

 Kirsten Bennett

Manager, English Foundation Program

Kirsten Bennett is the Manager of the English Foundation Program. She has worked with international students at UBC’s Okanagan campus since 2012 as both an instructor and program facilitator.  She has lived in Kelowna for the past ten years where she has worked in higher education and non-profit organizations. She has a Master’s Degree in Education, with a particular focus on language acquisition, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and International Relations.  Originally from Toronto, she has had the opportunity to live, work, and travel in many parts of Canada and around the world. She looks forward to the opportunity to meet you and assist you in achieving your goals at UBC Okanagan.

 Qin (Quinn) Xue

International Programs & Services Representative

Quinn Xue is the International Programs and Services Representative for International Programs & Services at UBC Okanagan. She completed her Master of Education from UBC Okanagan and Bachelor of Law from Northwest University in China. Quinn has over ten years’ working experience in student services. She has extensive experience providing international student services, such as settlement support, cultural adjustment, health care advising and connecting them with cultural activities and supports in the community. You are always welcome to come to the IPS front office to chat with Quinn if you have any questions or concerns during your studies and time in Canada.

 Sebastian Kolesar

Project Coordinator, International Programs & Services 

Sebastian is a recent graduate of UBC Okanagan's International Relations program. Throughout his time at UBC, he has worked with international students through his involvement with both the English Foundation Program and the International Student Initiative respectively. As an international student himself, he pursued political science at the Paris Institute of Political Studies as a participant in the 2016/2017 Go Global exchange program. Additionally, Sebastian has an affinity for language acquisition, and is fluent in French, as well as proficient in Spanish. He is passionate about travelling and athletics, and is eager to learn about culture wherever possible. Sebastian welcomes you to visit him at any time, and wishes you the utmost success at UBC.

Her background in education, diversity, cross-cultural conceptions and reconciliation brings a great asset to the International Programs and Services team. She is excited to see UBC students thrive in their programs and their lives outside of classes and would love for you to visit her in in the Fipke Centre anytime
